This spooky holiday is right around the corner, and what better way to give your marketing strategy a revamp than by incorporating Halloween into the mix? These are the Halloween marketing ideas for real estate agents to keep in mind this October.

Give themed gifts

Everyone loves a gift, especially when it’s themed around a specific holiday. Gear up for Halloween by handing out gifts to both prospects and clients at events, open houses, and pop-bys. Small pumpkins, fun Halloween home decor, and, of course, sweet treats, are great gifts that will ensure you stay top of mind.

Bag up a few sweet treats to give during pop-bys. It’s a fantastic way to stay top of mind.

Halloween-ify social media

Everything from your Facebook header image to your Instagram bio should reflect the thrills of the holiday. Brush up on your Photoshop skills to truly take your social media platforms to the next level, or simply find that spooky, funny, or endearing photo of you or your kids dressed in their costumes. These are temporary updates that can easily be replaced once Halloween passes, and they’re sure to get you comments and shares.

Haunted open house

Being scared isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but it doesn’t hurt to decorate the home at least a bit for this spooky holiday. Add a few otherworldly elements here and there—think ghoulish props, lit jack-o-lanterns, and haunting music—which can add that eerie aspect every house needs this time of year.

Did you know the original jack-o-lanterns were carved from turnips?

Go to community events

Annual holidays like Halloween are accompanied by a number of community events. There are Halloween parades, festivals, and tons of family friendly happenings going on that make for the perfect opportunity to get your name out there. Bring along business cards (with candy attached!), your personalized copies of American Lifestyle, Start Healthy, or Good to Be Home magazine and any other marketing materials to make those all-important connections.

Host a contest

Looking for another way to fully leverage the power of social media this time of year? Start a contest for your followers to participate in! You could ask your followers to post pictures of their home decor, their pet’s costume (who doesn’t love those?), or their out-of-this-world Halloween treats. You might create a poll asking folks to vote for their favorite Halloween candy. (A neat twist would be to add some nostalgic choices from days gone by.) Consider awarding prizes such as gift cards to the winners and enjoy the sweetness of all those leads you’ll have to follow up with.

Get creative with your marketing this Halloween, have some fun, and watch as your repeat and referral business grows!
