This week on Stay Paid, cofounder Caroline Pinal shares with us the story of Giveback Homes, an organization of real estate professionals that builds homes for families in need around the world.

What’s a bit different about Giveback Homes is that it operates as a for-profit business—providing its community of members with services, resources, and support to ensure that their participation creates a meaningful impact for both their businesses and the families they help.

Among the topics covered in Caroline’s interview is why it makes good sense for businesses to find a way to give back and promote social good. In fact, being a business of purpose—and not just profit—comes with many benefits, including developing stronger relationships and trust with people who share your values. 

Of course, Caroline is justly proud of Giveback Homes and what they’ve accomplished, but it may not be the best outlet for every agent’s, broker’s, or other real estate professional’s philanthropic goals. So we asked for her advice on how a business might choose a charity to support and what steps to take to gauge its legitimacy. She gives many suggestions, but perhaps the most important step is volunteering with an organization before deciding to partner with them.
