Standing out in the dental industry is no small feat—the competition grows by the day and it seems like there is no way to completely set yourself apart. But don’t lose motivation, there are still out-of-the-box ideas that could help differentiate your practice.
Utilize video testimonials
We’ve mentioned before how important video is to your marketing plan, and making the most of patient testimonials is one way to take this tactic up a notch. If you have a TV in your waiting room, consider playing these testimonials as people wait for their appointments, share them on social media, and include their comments in your blog and website to get new patients through the door.
Add more swag
The post-appointment goodie bag—usually filled with floss, a toothbrush, and toothpaste—is a classic incentive for patients to continue taking care of their teeth and return for routine check-ups. Take this idea one step further and consider including copies of our Start Healthy magazine or purchase branded t-shirts, canvas tote bags, or mugs to hand out after first visits, holidays, or during special promotions. Giving gifts will keep you top-of-mind with patients both old and new.

Get creative with business cards
While digital marketing for dental practices is important, don’t forget about traditional mediums, like business cards. They don’t have to be boring business cards that get tossed in the trash as soon as people get home. Add pops of color, catchy slogans, your mission statement, or something else you think will make your practice stand out. You might even opt for a unique shape.
Make your office unique
Your office doesn’t have to be drab and uninspiring to maintain a professional atmosphere. Give the walls a fresh coat of paint, add some noteworthy decor, plants, or even an office pet. (Every dentist has a fish tank, but how many have an octopus!) If you treat children, cater to what they would find fun. The sky’s the limit when it comes to differentiating your space. A new patient will leave their appointment ready to share the unique aspects of your interior design with family and friends.
Make your practice the one to visit with these simple strategies, and help move your practice closer to the next level.
