ReminderMedia Employees Raise $2,781.27 in Donations for American Cancer Society
Inspired by the overwhelming response from customers who shared emotional messages of support regarding American Lifestyle magazine’s Pink Edition, the staff at ReminderMedia took the message of breast cancer education and awareness to heart, and dedicated ten weeks toward raising breast cancer awareness and donations within the office.
With plans of joining the folks at the American Cancer Society for their Making Strides 5K walk in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 19, ReminderMedia employees began building the hype for this event in early August by initiating various activities that would both raise money toward their goal while also getting people talking about breast cancer education. Their fundraising events ran the gamut—from selling baked goods to handmade bracelets, from a company-wide Dress Down Day to an all-out Pink Out Day, and even a donation jar to turn our COO into the Pink Panther! But the biggest success was simply selling pink ties—dubbed as the man’s pink ribbon—which stood to remind everyone that men get breast cancer too.
To communicate visually the vast number of people affected by breast cancer, a pink awareness string donned the office walls where employees pinned stories about loved ones who lost their battle against breast cancer, as well as inspiring tales about survivors who never gave up hope and loved ones who are advocates for awareness. Informative signs on breast cancer education could be found throughout common areas in the office.
The company’s breast cancer education and awareness efforts culminated with the Making Strides 5K walk, in which ReminderMedia staff donated $2,781.27 to the American Cancer Society—landing the company on the top ten list of highest contributing teams in this year’s Making Strides of Philadelphia walk, which collectively raised over $150,000 in donations.
ReminderMedia thanks everyone who participated and contributed toward this year’s efforts to raise breast cancer awareness and education, and looks forward to making a bigger impact on the fight against breast cancer next year.
