Tools to Turn Your Car into a Mobile Office

Posted on

Most agents use their drive time to make phone calls and stay in touch with all their contacts. Since agents spend so much time in their vehicles, it only makes sense that they transform their car from a basic mode of transportation to a bona fide rolling office. Here are some solutions to getting your ride decked out and business-ready.

1. Bluetooth

No longer synonymous with loud talkers yakking into an earpiece, Bluetooth now comes standard in most cars. If you have an older model though, there are an array of options for about $100 that will transform your ride into a safe and hands-free call center.

2. Police lab top desk

We’ve all seen cops catching up on paperwork in between incidents. The police have done a pretty good job of maximizing every aspect of their vehicles for utility. While most real estate agents don’t need shot-gun caddies or back seats that only open from the outside, take a page out of the police handbook and get a desk set up in your front seat. A lot of the work agents do really isn’t conducive to a phone, and when you have your laptop a few inches away, you’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish.

Invest in a netbook for your automobile desk. They’re inexpensive and take up less room than your primary machine.

3. Power and Wi-Fi

A computer with no Wi-Fi and a low battery is pretty useless. Buy a converter to run all your equipment through three-pronged outlets powered by your car’s battery. From there make sure your netbook can use your phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot. Your data is going to take a hit, so you might want to consider upgrading to an unlimited plan. If you have a newer car, then there’s a decent chance it has Wi-Fi capabilities.

4. Printer

Grab a portable printer so you can get contracts signed on the spot. They run off rechargeable battery power and connect to your device through, you guessed it, Bluetooth.

5. Portable file cabinet

After you impress the heck out of clients with your portable printer, keep your documents safe and organized with a portable filing cabinet. They look like a duffel bag so you can easily carry it from location to location.

6. Membership at a car detailer

Spending this amount of time in your car means there are bound to be messes left behind. Getting a car detailed is expensive, but the best value is for those who take advantage of year-long deals. This way you can keep the interior spotless and state-of-the-art.

These items will be an investment in your business, and they will turn you into a mobile agent ready for any opportunity. Converting your car will also save you a lot of time in the long run since you won’t have to stop back into your office throughout the day. While other agents are waiting in line at Fed-Ex and asking for coffee shop Wi-Fi passwords, you’ll be inking deals.
