4 Inspired Ways to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

How to Keep Your Goals for the New Year

Intentions for the new year will remain mere ideas without a plan to achieve them and the discipline to carry them out.

Year after year, nearly 80% of us give up on our new year goals and resolutions before the end of January, which, to be honest, makes it difficult to think of them as “resolutions” at all.

There are many reasons why so many of us fail to fulfill our pledges, but many times, even those of us with the best intentions simply don’t understand that setting goals for the new year is really only the first and easiest step to achieving them. What’s often lacking is a plan of action that will help us accomplish those goals.

In this Silver Dollar episode of Stay Paid, we want to help ensure that you are fully prepared to meet your objectives and become a member of the elite 20% who do succeed in keeping their new year’s resolutions. So we’re sharing four practical, proven, and actionable steps you can implement today that will put (and keep) you on the path toward success.

  • Get an accountability partner. An accountability partner may be the most important asset in your plan. We suggest the qualities of a good accountability partner and offer additional ways to hold yourself responsible. (No wishy-washy commitments allowed!)
  • Track your progress. You can’t measure what you don’t track, and if you don’t track your progress, then you won’t know where you need to improve. We recommend an especially effective means of tracking your achievements.
  • Proactively invest time, thought, and energy into meeting your goal. You’re going to have moments of weakness, so we share our advice for being supremely conscious of your preparation for those times.
  • Reward even small wins. If striving for a goal is an experience defined by consistent drudgery, you’re going to give up. It’s important to stay inspired and keep moving forward, and the inspiration to keep going is bolstered by recognizing, rewarding, and stacking up the small wins you experience.

We hope you enjoy this episode and act on the advice Luke offers at the end. We’d also appreciate it if you took a moment to leave us a 5-star review and comment on Apple Podcasts. (We read them on air!) Thanks for listening!
