Community involvement is extremely important for all industries. However, for an industry that’s as client centric as real estate, getting your face out and about provides you with various opportunities. From helping others, to improving your image, to making connections within the community, getting involved is almost a no-brainer. Below are three different routes that you can take when determining just how to get involved.
1. Join a community board
One of the best ways to get noticed within the community is to serve on a local committee. Consider finding a board that aligns with your passions and interests. As an agent you more than likely pride yourself on being a local expert, so why not sit on your Downtown Business Council? Often times, community boards are brimming with influential people, providing you with valuable networking opportunities.
2. Donate your time
A donation doesn’t have to involve money. In fact, donating your time is far more valuable than any dollar amount. Volunteering shows that you are willing to put time and effort into something much larger than you or your business—making you the ultimate team player. There are various organizations that are always searching for helping hands. Consider a soup kitchen, recreation center or animal shelter.
3. Participate in local events
Local events come in all shapes and sizes. From festivals to parades, events are great opportunities for being out in the community and promoting your business. Refer to a community calendar (or sit on a committee board) to find the dates of upcoming events. If you’re able to host a vendor table, come equipped with signage and various marketing materials—you never know who you’ll run into.
Regardless of your motives, truly becoming part of your community on a volunteer level offers a host of benefits.
