There are a ton of factors that go into making an amazing salesperson. They end up being an incredible combination of experiences and characteristics, and while there has never been two of the exact same salesperson, every top producer has these two traits!

Alright guys what does it take to be successful in sales? This is a question I get all the time in interviews, I’ve interviewed hundreds of people, people have thousands of opinions on this and what I’ll tell you is you have to be good in a multiple level of things: scripts, your personality, but the truth is there’s two character traits that I see overwhelmingly in top producers.

Belief.

First character trait is belief. What do I mean by that? Belief really breaks down into two different categories first it’s belief in yourself if you ask the LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, who’s the best basketball player that ever lived, they’re all going to say themselves. Because they ultimately have that belief in themselves and you have to have that belief in confidence in yourself to be the best sales rep.

And then the second area of belief is belief in the product you’re selling. It’s the age-old adage in sales you can’t sell something you don’t believe in because you have to have that conviction enough to be able to tell somebody they don’t need to talk to their wife, to pull over to the side of the road, you have to believe enough in your product that your product will change their life.

Hustle.

The second character trait that I see overwhelmingly in top producers is this thing you might call hustle, work ethic, it’s basically being relentless in your pursuit to dominate the sales process. It’s where I’m not talking about just working you know 12 hours a day, I think that’s great, but it’s more than that. It’s when you hit that wall in your life you don’t just back down and live in the confines of your wall, you scale that wall break it down, find the door, you do whatever it takes to get the job done.

The takeaway.

Those are the two character traits that I see in top producers. That they have a belief in themselves and the product and service that they offer, and that they have a relentlessness that they have this work ethic and this hustle that they never give up.
