How to Find Your Passion

Key idea: Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and two ways to succeed with limited resources, whether that’s time, money, or other something else, is to do a few things well—and never give up.

We’ve talked more than a few times on this podcast about needing to know your “why.” Some refer to it as “knowing your passion” or “figuring out your purpose,” but whatever terminology you prefer, it’s what gets you out of bed in the morning to do what you do.

Finding your passion in life is important because when things get tough, you need something that is going to motivate you to keep going . . . and money isn’t sufficient.

While money is required to meet life’s necessities, there is a significant amount of research demonstrating that it doesn’t sustain high performance in the longer term. Money is an extrinsic motivator, and all of us need to be motivated intrinsically to remain satisfied, fulfilled, and happy.

Helping people, and particularly women, to discover their “why” is a significant aspect of Sherri Somers’s passion. Sherri is this week’s Stay Paid guest, and she shares her approach to video marketing and how she figured out a way to make a career in insurance work for her. She also spends time talking about her life story and the purpose that grew from it. What’s particularly unique about this purpose is that it has become part of her brand identity.
