Ep. 323 #REL: How to Beat the Big Agencies in Real Estate without Spending Millions

Paid Real Estate Leads

Will Paying for Leads Soon Be a Thing of the Past?

Who should listen: Real estate agents who need an alternative plan to paying the ever-increasing costs of leads from big-box brokers and splitting commissions with third-party companies.

Key idea: Newer technologies can’t change the fundamental nature and benefits of having relationships with your clients.

Action item: Put your database in order, and start calling your past clients.

Welcome to the debut episode of Real Estate Leaders!

In addition to our regular guest episodes and our Silver Dollar episodes, each week you’ll now hear how real estate leaders respond to the same set of critical questions. We hope each perspective gives you greater insight into the real estate industry, the market, and how to succeed as an agent.

To kick it off, we spoke with Will Penney.

Will has been a real estate agent since 1988, when he got his license at 19 years old. Today, he has a team of 5 agents in Akron, Ohio, where they sell about 200 homes a year, or the equivalent of $40M in volume.

Our conversation about paid leads developed when we asked Will for his thoughts about where the real estate industry is heading and what agents will need to do to adapt and succeed. With leads becoming prohibitively expensive for the average agent, he believes paying for leads will not be a viable option much longer. His solution to the problem will also help more agents to succeed where, currently, so many fail within 2 years.

Listen to this candid conversation, and you’ll also hear Will talk about what he wished he’d known before becoming an agent and what he’d do differently, why he thinks he’s succeeded, and the strategy he uses to stay in touch with clients that works so well, he’s made a business out of it.

Please enjoy this episode, and we’d appreciate it if you would give us a 5-star rating and leave a review on Apple Podcasts. (Not sure how to leave a review? Click here.)
