ReminderMedia Gets Crafty with Hand-Painted Textile Designs

Posted on

ReminderMedia staff found inspiration in the botanical textiles designed by Kate Troyer of Wippowillow, and organized a Craft Week to try their hand at creating handmade textile designs of their own.

The current issue of American Lifestyle magazine features the article “Making Textiles Sing,” which showcases Kate Troyer’s artistic journey as she carves out a niche in textile surface design. Kate sketches the designs by hand—which tend to combine urban influences with natural, botanical elements to achieve a modern look—before manipulating the pattern onto a large silkscreen and carefully hand printing the design onto fabric.

The staff at ReminderMedia enjoyed Kate’s story and works of art so much that they were motivated to create their own textile designs. They organized a company-wide Craft Week during which everyone was encouraged to design their own textile square, taking design influence and inspiration from nature and the great outdoors. The team is in the process of combining the individual squares into a textile tapestry that can hang in the office for all to see.

After learning she was the muse behind ReminderMedia’s craft project, Kate Troyer was honored, exclaiming, “Thank you so much. Your kind words and the fact that I provided any inspiration for your team to be creative is the biggest compliment I could ever receive! I would love to see the finished product! I am sure it will be beautiful!”
