Ep. 146: PRODUCER TAKEOVER: Our Top 3 Ways to Utilize Facebook LiveΒ
On todayβs episode of Stay Paid, showrunner Andrea Tremper and producer Arielle Thomas sit down to talk about the importance of going live on Facebook and offer three tips for making the most of your live videos to improve engagement.
Key points:
- The more you go live, the better youβll be at it.
- Going Live frequently helps you stay top of mind.
- Make sure you showcase your personality in your live videos.
Tip #1. Get over your fear of going Live.
This is the best time to step out of your comfort zone. The worst thing that can happen is you fail, you delete it, and learn from it. There are so many resources you can learn from. We go Live all the time, Luke goes Live all the time on his page. Learn from our mistakes and learn from our successes. Since everyone is home and working from their computers, a lot more traffic is headed to the desktop. If youβre new to live videos, you can try sitting at a desk, set up a nice background, and talk about how youβre doing. Humanize yourself. The best way to get over it is to just do it. The more you do it, the better youβll get.
Tip #2. Quantity over quality.
For Facebook Live, specifically. You have to be able to hear what youβre saying, and you donβt want it to be blurry. You want it to be good quality to a point. But, going back to the humanization, the more you do it, the better youβll get. The more content youβre giving to your audience, the more youβll be top of mind and your content will get pushed to the top of their feed. Try and go Live once a week for ten minutes. If you really want to go for it, go Live once a day for five minutes.
Tip #3. Behind-the-scenes content is huge.
Weβre doing it right now. We added a camera angle for Josh and Luke to show them running back and forth behind-the-scenes. We also take behind-the-scenes photos on our phones. It humanizes you. A lot of our real estate agents and insurance agents and people in those kinds of industries, they have a face to their brand, but theyβre still a brand. Itβs important to let your audience know youβre more than that. Do a Facebook Live while youβre having dinner, do it while youβre walking the dog, do it when youβre having your morning coffee. Thereβre so many things you can do with behind-the-scenes content that will make you more relatable.
A previous guest of ours, Eric Feng said, βItβs not called business media, itβs called social media.β Youβre supposed to be social and interacting with your followers and your audience. If youβre constantly posting business, it doesnβt humanize you. Bring in what youβre doing in your personal life outside the business to make yourself more relatable.
Some examples of what we do with our brands are we go Live throughout the year, but one that works well for us is a company-wide Live around the holidays. Itβs so much fun and people love it. You get to see people you donβt normally get to see. Another is when Luke went Live a few weeks ago with his wife, Megan. It got so much engagement.
